Sword-Hall Guide

Instance Overview

Running the Sword Hall is by far the quickest way to gain DG Barter coins. The quest mode of the instance takes 20 minutes and yields 3 medallions where as the Hard Mode cannot take longer than 10 minutes and yields 8 medallions (with the daily quest).

Equipement and Consumables

Quest Mode

In QM you will be fighting the 3 'Champions', one after each other - separated by 2 waves of adds each. The Champions (in order of when you fight them) are 1) Sorcerer, 2) Morrovail and 3) Troll. There are 2 aspects (specials and corruption) to each Champion which are unique and need to be understood in order to assist with the completion of both QM and HM. Its important to note that each Champion will at various points have a timed 1 minute corruption on them which increases their vulnerability by +15% (ranged/melee/tactical) and that the removal of these corruptions grants a buff to the fellowship. Each champions give a different buff as described below

Corruptions:

Sorcerer (56k EM)
Attack: Fire DOT
Buff (when corruption is removed): Morale over time buff

Troll (94k EM)
Attack: AOE damage. The Troll will temporarily become unattackable, run to the middle of the room and then send out lines of dust along the ground. If you avoid these lines then you will avoid the damage and punt. There are areas around the Troll where these lines are absent but atm I haven't worked out if that is random or if there is a pattern.

Buff (when corruption is removed): Armour buff

Morroval (75k EM)
Attack: Self Heal (interruptible)
Buff (when corruption is removed): Power over time buff

Hard Mode

For Hard mode you are tasked with dealing with all 3 bosses at the same time, and if you fail to kill them all in 10 minutes then u get all the adds on you - nasty! The order that you kill the champions is vitally important - Sorcerer -> Troll -> Morroval.

By far the hardest part of HM is the first 30 seconds. If your group can survive the stuns, get the mobs under control and manage the troll special attack then it down to the quality of DPS as to whether the group will suceed within the 12 minutes.

Group Setup

For QM I would say that most combinations will work and can be completed by anyone 62+. For HM you really need to be 64+ and have some form of heavy armour just to help with the big hits. Thats not to say that this cannot be completed with medium/light armour only groups - it just helps.

For HM, group setup is very important and there are various aspects to the strategy which you will need to tweek depending on what classes you have. The best setup I have seen was Warden/Champ/Minstrel. This setup involved the Champion tanking and DPSing the Sorcerer done ASAP while the Warden tanked the troll and Morroval and removed the corruptions as required. remember: the corruptions make the mobs easier to kill and should only be removed if the buffs are required.
